When the Swiss pharmaceutical company Lagap SA turned to CRT Sterile Solution it needed to transfer production from several production plants in internal Switzerland to a building of compatible size for all productions (about 4,000 sqm).
Structural works were required to enlarge the building and set up the premises according to the production cycles in compliance with the quality standards required for the production of drugs.
The starting structure was not suitable for the needs of pharmaceutical production and lacked all the plant engineering.
CRT Sterile Solution in just 3 months carried out the Basic Design and Detail Design study, presenting the entire project to the property, and obtaining the approval to proceed with the construction of the civil and plant works. The design phase included the research of process equipment and the writing of all general and detailed URS.
In addition to the rationale and implementation of the project, CRT Sterile Solution also supported the customer in the drafting of the SOPs of the internal business processes and throughout the validation process that followed .
The production department of "upstream" mammalian cells and distribution of the product in pre-filled syringes (PFS) is still underway, areas that envisage the creation of environments dedicated to Research & Development and the premises of the warehouse.
The project included the expansion of the building through the construction of further 2 floors in addition to the pre-existing ground floor, in which to organize the various work areas which included areas for warehouses, the production and processing of powders, packaging, sampling of incoming raw materials, stability cells , analysis laboratories for quality control and, finally, technical areas and offices.
In less than 18 months, despite the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the project has seen its completion and obtained production authorization and became fully operational.
CRT Sterile Solution has not only thought about creating a building that meets the required requirements and that is efficient from a production point of view, but has created a sustainable and green structure , which uses low-consumption resources to a production that respects the environment.
In fact, photovoltaic panels were installed to cover part of the electricity consumption, maximum heat recovery from expulsions, and wells were created for the use of groundwater for the production of fluids at high and low temperatures.
